Our story

I wished I could clone my best friend. So I did.

Every school has a Debs. This is the story of ours, and why everyone should have one.

Debs is my best friend. She’s also the school hero.

Debs knows it’s non-uniform day before the school does. She’s read the newsletter, the PDF attached to the newsletter, and the letter that came home at the bottom of the book bag. She knows which week is PE, which Friday needs £1 for charity, and exactly when the trip form is due.

At the end of every term, it’s Debs who organises the teacher’s present. She collects everyone’s fiver, chooses something lovely, and somehow gets the card signed by the whole class. She never forgets a birthday, and she always has a card ready. She is one of those annoyingly organised people, and we all adore her for it.

Our mums’ WhatsApp group runs on Debs. “Debs, is it tomorrow?” “Debs, what time is football?” “Debs, what’s an INSET day?” Everything relies on her.

I, meanwhile, sent mine in full uniform on non-uniform day. I found the trip form in the book bag the day after it was due. And every time, there was Debs, looking calm, with everything sorted, showing me up without even trying.

I used to think: I wish I could just clone her. So I did.

So I built Debs, your own school admin assistant, and named it after her. It reads the school emails and the letters attached to them, keeps track of the dates, forms, money and kit, and tells me the night before what’s needed for tomorrow. It answers my questions without sighing. And now you can have your own Debs too, without the guilt, and without the smug look at the school gate.

Debs, if you’re reading this: thank you. I’ll sort the next teacher’s present. (I won’t. You will.)

What your Debs does

So you can stop keeping it all in your head.

Debs reads it all and keeps the list for you. The school emails, the letters attached to them, the Arbor messages: it pulls out the dates, forms, money and kit, and tells you the night before what matters for tomorrow.

Where it works

Every school in the UK

Every state and private school in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland is in Debs, from the official lists. When the first family at a school joins, Debs reads the school’s own website for its term dates, INSET days, teachers, uniform and clubs, then checks it every week for changes. Schools in and around these towns were first:

  • Hastings
  • St Leonards-on-Sea
  • Bexhill-on-Sea
  • Battle
  • Rye
  • Westfield
  • Robertsbridge
  • Ninfield
